Indianapolis Barn Wedding Venues | Indiana Barn Weddings
November 6th, 2013

Barn and Farm weddings were all-the-rage in 2014 wedding trends and are forecasted to increase in popularity into 2015.  The lush, natural landscapes, rolling fields, and rustic barns add the perfect backdrop for your special day.  And lucky for the Indianapolis-Bride-To-Be, our city touts an agriculturally-rich heritage with wonderful spaces and places to accommodate your dream outdoor wedding and reception!

I got the pleasure of meeting with and touring some of these amazing barn venues.  While each-and-every one of these venue owners/managers shared an obvious passion and understanding for wedding-planning, they also shared a common message to Indianapolis Brides:  If you desire a barn wedding - DON'T WAIT to secure your venue-of-choice!  Due to the popularity of barn wedding venues, these facilities are booking up lightning-fast!

Here's a little history,  info, and wedding "eye candy" to help familiarize you with some of Indianapolis's most popular barn wedding venues:

The Barn At Kennedy Farms

Just 25 minutes west of the city on I-74 lies a brand-spanking new Indianapolis Barn Venue ripe for the picking!  Built to serve mainly as a wedding/reception venue in Indianapolis; this barn venue leaves no "bennie" out in its construction.   Besides its convenient location, which is both tranquil and serene; this barn beauty boasts both bride and groom quarters, modern restrooms, running water, an overnight suite (to be finished in June 2104), gorgeous lighting, TONS of space, and real, rustic-chic charm!

The Barn at Kennedy Farm was the brainchild and dream of Kim Svoma, longtime Hendricks County resident.  After many years of exploring the options, Kim met the Kennedy Family who partnered with her; providing 40 acres of rolling pastures and trees just minutes from the city; but far from the hustle-bustle of everyday life.  Slowly but surely, they brought her dream to life using reclaimed wood for rustic appeal, old-fashioned barn design, antique chandeliers, and adorable details.  While the main barn is done and taking applications for 2014 and 2015 weddings; it is currently in its final phase of construction as a large tower is being erected to serve as brides/groom suites, restrooms, and the venue office. (The plans are fantastic and we can't wait to see the final results!)  This Indianapolis Barn Venue will be one of the first to offer romantic, winter weddings as it pipes heat in throughout the off season. (YES!)

This venue accomodates:  Up to 275 Guests

Catering Options:  Brides may select from a Preferred Caterers List; but not required.

Morgan Acres

Morgan Acres is located in a quiet, rural area of the city's East side.  The barn itself, which was built in 1906, underwent a large renovation and restoration process that spanned from spring of 2012 to summer of 2013 - and is now open for business!  This Indy wedding barn lies on a property that encapsulates an adorable lake, lush greenery, and the Williams' family vineyard.  Since this venue's launch, Morgan Acres has already accomodated two weddings and just added a wedding coordinator to their staff to assist you in your planning.

Morgan Acres' Barn Venue houses all of the attributes brides desire from a rustic wedding ceremony and reception:  exposed barn beams, wood slats that seep gorgeous light throughout the facility, and a property that oozes country charm. The barn also boasts multiple level loft space where guests can get away to talk, mingle, or gaze down in full view of the festivities below.  (We LOVED this feature!) The renovation project also included the creation of a kitchen, bridal/groom suites, and bathrooms to extend modern conveniences necessary to host large gatherings.

But above-and-beyond the features of the structure itself, the Williams' have went above-and-beyond normal renovation tasks;  converting the interior into a shabby-chic styled space utilizing towering chandeliers (4) and vintage wedding portraits, dried florals, reclaimed windows and doors, and eclectic antique furnishings.  So tastefully done, there is very little decor needed from the bride!   Morgan Acres is a MUST-SEE for all 2B's looking for a unique location to hold their wedding in Indianapolis!

This venue accomodates:  Up to 245 Guests

Catering Options:  Brides may select from a Preferred Caterers List; but not required.

The Barn In Zionsville

Another Barn Wedding Venue recently popped up on the Indy Wedding Scene in 2013:  The Barn In Zionsville.  Nestled on 9 acres of private property on the city's northwest side, this barn offers charm, elegance, and a a rustic setting for Indianapolis brides to house their weddings of up to 125 guests.  The Barn In Zionsville is aligned with a mature woods and rolling meadows (complete with horses roaming the perimeter of the property).  The barn itself, was built only 25 years ago, making it the perfect barn wedding location for brides who want that rustic "feel"; but desire a space that is more resistant to the weather.  Sarah Cooper (Cooper Events) runs the coordination of this venue, and has tastefully decorated the barn; aligning the aisles with authentic whiskey barrels, gorgeous chandeliers, antique lighting, wheel barrows with flowers, and an adorable rose-copper finished bicycle for added charm.  One of our favorite qualities about this Indy Barn Venue is the LOVELY location. The only sound you will here is the birds and the wind blowing through the trees in the distance.  No traffic, no planes, no crowds.  Tucked just far enough from the traveled paths of the city - so you can focus on your nuptials without the distraction of city life commotion.

Get married in the barn; or use the barn as a backdrop.  Ceremony in the barn; reception in an elegant tent on the grounds; party in the barn!  So many options at The Barn in Zionsville - call them today to discuss your barn wedding day dreams!

Catering:  Brides may self-cater or choose from a preferred vendor list (but not required).

Mustard Seed Garden
Mustard Seed Gardens, a family owned and operated venue,  is located on the Metsker Plantation just west of Downtown Noblesville, Indiana.   Of the original 7 houses built on the plantation in the 1890's, The Metsker House is only one of  two houses that currently remain on the property. Andrew Jackson, 7th President of the United States, deeded the property to soldiers after the Civil War and it's rumored the house was used as part of the underground railroad. The Olde Barn, one of three original buildings on the Metsker Property, was built in 1892 across White River in Noblesville and  was then carried over the White River by horse and buggy and was assembled where it currently stands today. The original hand-carved posts and beams can be seen throughout as well as the original track that was used to stack hay bales. The Olde Barn was completely renovated  to be restored back to its original state and now serves as home to Mustard Seed Gardens event venue.  The barn, itself, holds 200 guests; up to 300 with additional tent seating.

The three-acre gardens feature a 360 degree view Gazebo and makes for the perfect location for outdoor ceremonies.   The Olde Barn can also serve as the ceremony location with additional tent seating set up on the grounds to host the reception.   And the Metsker House features a renovated bridal suite where the bride and groom’s family can gather before wedding celebrations begin.  The grounds themselves, are made up of well-manicured lawns,  patios, and beautiful display of natural plants and flowers (as the venue also houses Mustard Seed Garden Landscaping Center)  that create an intimate ambiance for both large and small gatherings.

Catering:  Brides can contract their own catering preferences at this venue or select from a preferred vendor list.

Trader’s Point Creamery

Traders Point Creamery is an Organic Dairy Farm and Artisan Creamery  located fifteen minutes northwest of downtown Indianapolis on an easily accessible one hundred and fifty acre farm.  Trader's Point Creamery offers  a remote landscape with rolling hills, green pastures, and gorgeous gardens reminiscent of a California winery and the owner's grandparents’ farm.

Trader's Point Creamery operates three spaces within the grounds to accommodate weddings and receptions for Indianapolis Brides:

The Garden Lawn & Deck
Next to the Creamery, an elliptical Deck and Patio sit nestled between expansive gardens, lawn and verdant pastures. A large Garden Lawn stretches out next to the deck to accommodate a tent for up to 200 guests. All dining receptions in this area require a tent.

The Loft Restaurant

Coffee Creek Ridge

Coffee Creek Ridge is a fifth-generation family-owned  farm and barn located near Shelbyville, Indiana about 25 miles south-east of Indianapolis.  The centerpiece of the farm is an early 1900's barn which was restored in 2011 for a family wedding, though  the granary still exists in the loft of the barn.  The current owners had to relocate several tons of grain to expand what used to be five, smaller livestock stalls into what is now the common area of the barn where ceremonies and receptions are held.  Part of the center loft floor was also removed to give the barn an open, airy feel where guests can peer up toward the peak of the massive structure and exposed barn beams.

The farm sits on a hill and is surrounded by rolling fields and river valley, which also serve as beautiful sites for your ceremony or event!  A large Sycamore tree on the property with a vintage chandelier centered among its expansive, draping branches is a very popular ceremony site.  Coffee Creek Ridge can accommodate up to 350 guests (with additional tent seating) and the barn alone can house up to 260 guests.

Coffee Creek Ridge is ideal for anyone wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle of an urban setting, and experience the serenity and privacy this rural barn location has to offer.
